  • To develop climate-adaptive livelihoods for coastal vulnerable communities
  • To enhance knowledge and awareness of the coastal vulnerable communities on climate change issues
ImpactThe RHL Project aims to protect marginalized coastal communities from cyclones, storm surges, and salinity. It significantly enhances climate resilience through safe housing and adaptive livelihoods.
Outcome
  • Outcome 1: Decreased risk of loss of assets and lives from extreme weather events
  • Outcome 2: Livelihood resilience to sea-level rise / storm surges and salinity
  • Outcome 3: Improved climate planning and implementation by communities and local level institutions
Output
  • Output 1: Climate resilient homesteads constructed
  • Output 2: Traditional farming practices climate proofed
  • Output 3: Community-based farmed crab supply chain created
  • Output 4: Climate change adaptation groups (CCAG) formed and operationalized
  • Output 5: Capacity built among IEs and relevant institutions apprised on project

Key Activities

  1. Design and building of homesteads: The project constructs climate-proof houses for selected beneficiaries after consultation meetings in the selected areas.
  2. Construction of slatted houses for goat/sheep rearing: Supports poor households, especially women, with safer small-ruminant rearing options that reduce flood and storm losses.
  3. Development of crab hatcheries (1st stage): Establishes micro-crab hatcheries, provides training on crab breeding and hatchery management, and supports enterprise development.
  4. Financial support for producing crablets: Technical support and financing for hatchery construction and initial operations.
  5. Organize training for beneficiaries and stakeholders: Training plans for CCAG members are prepared, approved, and closely monitored.
