Environment & Climate Change

The Environment and Climate Change Unit addresses environmental challenges and climate impacts among vulnerable communities in Bangladesh.

About the Unit

The Environment and Climate Change Unit of Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) works to address environmental challenges and reduce the adverse impacts of climate change, particularly among vulnerable communities in Bangladesh. The unit promotes sustainable development through climate change adaptation, environmental conservation, disaster risk reduction, natural resource management, and community resilience-building initiatives.

SUS recognizes that climate change has significant impacts on vulnerable communities, especially in coastal and disaster-prone areas. The unit works closely with local communities, government institutions, development partners, and other stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable and climate-resilient solutions.

Key Areas of Work

  • Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Building
  • Environmental Conservation and Biodiversity Protection
  • Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness
  • Climate-Smart Agriculture and Sustainable Livelihoods
  • Water Resource Management and Safe Water Initiatives
  • Renewable Energy and Green Technology Promotion
  • Tree Plantation and Afforestation
