Satkhira Unnayan Sangstha (SUS) was established in 1982 and gradually increased its size and expanded operations in the southwestern coastal areas of Bangladesh — especially in Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, Magura and Jhenaidah districts.
At present, SUS works in 33 upazilas of 7 districts with PKSF support on small and medium credit, socioeconomic development, education and health, adolescent development and entrepreneurship. With Stromme Foundation Norway, SUS also implements income-generating activities, community-managed micro-credit and self-development programs.
RAISE, PACE, AP, RMTP, adolescent development, ENRICH, WASH, ACCEFS and other projects are being implemented in Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat for fish farmers and safe fish production. Staff capacity development remains central — for over 40 years, SUS teams have worked like fearless soldiers for poverty alleviation, social development and skill building among the poor and distressed people of the southwest.
